Itineraries
Faisal Mosque — Start Here
Go early before the crowd shows up. The marble courtyard is stunning in the morning light, and you’ll actually be able to take in the architecture without bumping into tour groups. Worth at least 45 minutes.
- Faisal Mosque
- Shah Faisal Park
Pakistan Monument & Shakar Parian
A short drive south. The monument itself is beautiful up close, but the real reason to come here is the view from the hilltop — you can see the entire city laid out in front of you, which puts everything into perspective.
- Pakistan Monument
- Shakar Parian Hills
- Damn-e-Koh
Lunch at Centaurus, then Lok Versa
Centaurus Mall has solid food options on the upper floors — nothing fancy, just good food at fair prices. After lunch, head to Lok Virsa Museum nearby. It’s one of those places most visitors skip, which is why you shouldn’t. The folk art and crafts collection is genuinely fascinating.
- Centaurus Mall
- Lok Vrisa Museum
- F-7 Markaz
Rawal Lake Sunset + Monal for Dinner
End the day properly. Rawal Lake in the late afternoon is calm and beautiful. Then drive up to Monal Restaurant on the Margalla hillside — the food is decent but the view of Islamabad lit up at dusk is what you’re really paying for.
- Rawal Lake
- Monal Restaurant
- Margalla Hills

The 4-Day Islamabad and Hills Journey

Four days hits a sweet spot that not enough people take advantage of. It’s enough time to actually get comfortable in a place — to stop navigating and start wandering. You’ll cover Islamabad properly, take a day trip out to Taxila, and make it up to Murree for at least one night in the hills. Come back feeling like you actually went somewhere.

Itineraries
Day 1 — Arrival and First Evening in the City
If you arrive early enough, do a slow walk-through F-7 Markaz or Jinnah Super — just to get your bearings, watch how the city moves, grab something to eat at a local restaurant. Islamabad in the evening has a particular quality to it: quieter than you’d expect a capital city to be, the air carrying a faint smell of pine from the hills. Good first impression every time.
Day 2 — Islamabad in Full
Start at Faisal Mosque before 8am — the light, the quiet, the scale of it without the weekend crowds. Then Pakistan Monument and the Shakar Parian viewpoint for the full city panorama. After lunch at Centaurus, spend the afternoon at Lok Vrisa Museum, which is one of those genuinely underrated places that most short-stay visitors skip and later regret.
Day 3 — Taxila Ruins and Margalla Trails
. Head to Taxila first thing in the morning — the museum to get your bearings, then the Dharmaraja Stupa and Julian monastery ruins. You’re walking through 2,000 years of civilisation on a Tuesday morning with almost nobody else around.
Back in the city by early afternoon, do the Margalla Hills Trail 3 if you have energy left. It’s a proper hike but you’re done in two hours. Damn-e-Koh viewpoint is a shorter alternative if you’d rather take it easy. Either way, get up into the hills before the day is over — they’re the thing that makes Islamabad different from every other city in the country.
Day 4 — Murree and Departure
Yes, you can do Murree as a half-day before leaving — if your flight or departure is in the evening. Drive up early, walk Mall Road before the crowds arrive, take the chair lift at Pindi Point for the valley view, have kashmiri chai with something sweet from a roadside stall. You’ll be back in the city well before noon, which gives you time to pick up souvenirs from Aabpara Market and still make a 5pm departure.
If you have a later flight, push it further — drive through to Nathia Gali for lunch among the pine forests and come back through the hills at a leisurely pace. Four days can stretch surprisingly far when you’re not wasting time figuring out where to go.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which package is best for a first-time visitor?
If you only have one shot at Islamabad and want to actually understand the place, the 4-day package is the right call. It covers the city properly and gets you out into Murree, Nathia Gali, and Taxila without feeling rushed.
Is the 1-day package worth it, or should I just skip Islamabad if I don’t have more time?
It’s worth it. A well-planned single day still covers Faisal Mosque, the Margalla Hills viewpoints, and a proper sunset at Monal. It won’t give you the full picture, but it’s far better than skipping the city entirely.
Do these prices include flights to Islamabad?
No. All prices listed are for the on-ground package only — accommodation, transport within the region, meals as specified, guide services, and entry tickets.
What should I pack for the Murree and Taxila legs of the trip?
Layers, even in summer — temperatures drop noticeably once you’re up in the hills, especially in the evening. In winter, proper warm clothing and decent shoes are essential since the hill roads can be cold and occasionally icy.
Are these packages suitable for solo travellers?
Yes. Solo travellers often pay a slightly higher per-person rate since hotel and transport costs aren’t split, but every itinerary listed here works comfortably for one person, especially the 1-day and 4-day options.
